The 48mm Canon Colour Conversion Filter A
 
The Canon Colour Conversion Filter Type A is a specialised colour correction filter designed to allow you to shoot Tungsten balanced colour film in daylight conditions
 
Tungsten film is designed to capture colours correctly indoors under warm artificial lighting (3400K)
When you take that same film outside into daylight (with the bluer temperatures) your images will look artificially blue. 
 
The correction is managed by the Conversion A filter - sometimes referred to as an 85 series filter, the filter acts as a warming filter absorbing blue light and shifting daylight colour temperatures.
